HISTORIC DOCUMENTS COLLECTION

In order to access this full range of historic documents, please visit the Collection in person, at the Main Library Fairchild Street, Bridgetown

The National Library Service proudly presents its Historic Documents Collection an invaluable repository of rare and significant records that chronicle our nation’s rich heritage, culture, and development over time. This curated collection offers a unique glimpse into the past, preserving original materials that reflect the social, political, and cultural evolution of Barbados dating back to 1731 when printing was introduced in Barbados by Samuel Keimer who introduced the Barbados Gazette.

While selected highlights may be featured online for public awareness and educational purposes, access to the full documents is reserved for in-person consultation. We invite researchers, students, and members of the public to visit the National Library Service to explore these materials in their entirety.
